Since 1997 Dr. Alexander Ospelt is Owner and Member of the Board of Directors of Ospelt & Partner Attorneys at Law and Legacon Trust Establishment, Landstrasse 99, 9494 Schaan, Liechtenstein. Prior to this, in 1993 he worked as a staff member of Liechtenstein’s Permanent Representation at the United Nations (UN) in New York. From 1994 until establishing his chambers in 1997 he practised at the Princely Court of Justice and in a reputated law firm in Liechtenstein.
From 1987 to 1993 he studied at the Faculty of Law at St. Gallen University, Switzerland and went on to take a degree in European Law at ULB in Brussels, Belgium. He passed the Liechtenstein Bar Examination in 1997 and gained a doctorate in Law from St. Gallen University, Switzerland, in 1999.
Dr. Alexander Ospelt has composed various publications. His dissertation dealt with the free movement of freelancers in the European Economic Area and its impact on Liechtenstein professional law. In practice, he was able to use the knowledge he had acquired in this way and won the case against Liechtenstein for the residence requirement for his client before the EFTA Court in Luxembourg.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Dr. Alexander Ospelt has been and continues to be active in various associations, foundations, and boards of directors. From 2005 to 2009, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Liechtenstein Power Plants, and from 2001 to 2004, he was a member of the Executive Board of the Liechtenstein Bar Association. Since 2006, he has been President of the Liechtenstein Crisis Intervention Foundation (KIT), from 2007 to 2017 he was a member of the Executive Board of the European Lawyers' Association DACH, and from 2012 to 2017 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Liechtenstein Life Assurance AG. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Pro Humanitate Foundation and, since 2024, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Promotion of a Vibrant Malbun. He has also been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Private University of Liechtenstein since 2013 and was President of the Liechtenstein Ski Association from 2016 to 2023. In 2024, he was elected to the FIS Council.
Dr. Ospelt is also a member of Lions Club International and serves on the boards of directors of various companies: since 2009, member of the board of directors of Billington Holding AG; since 2016, member of the board of directors of Ospelt Holding Anstalt (Malbuner); since 2016, president of the board of directors of Seed X Liechtenstein AG; since 2017, member of the board of directors of Accuro Ltd.; and since June 2025, president of the board of directors of VIA Versicherung AG. In 2017, he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium.
